Coming soon, make your own online maps...
In the near future you'll be able to access online resources like Google Maps and create your own maps.  Actually the technology already exists but there isn't a real easy way to do it yet.  Here are some examples of online maps people have made.

World Map of Realtime Wikipedia Updates:  On this map the location and usernames of people who are making updates to Wikipedia is revealed.

World Flood Map:  You can use this map to see the effects of a raising the sea level as high as 14 meters.

World Heritage Sites Map:  Each pin on this world map identifies a World Heritage Site.  Click on the pins for more information.

WikiMapia:  An attempt to describe the whole world using the Wikipedia concept.  Anyone can add information to this online map.
