1.2 Word - Simple Web Pages

Microsoft Word can be used to create simple web pages.  The Internet Treasure Hunt is a small group project that involves:  internet research, creating hyperlinks, turning images and text into hyperlinks, inserting tables, inserting images, aligning and formatting text and images, using word art, merging cells, share information using the X: drive and saving as a single file web page.

Students work in pairs as they go out onto the internet to find the answers to 10 unique questions.  They copy and paste hyperlinks to the answers into a Word document and use the X: drive to share their information.  The abstract URL's are then turned into words and sentences that are hyperlinks.  In the final stages the 10 answers are laid out on a table and images are added that are also turned into hyperlinks.  To the right is a sample completed project.

Students should be able to use Microsoft Word to create simple web pages that have text and image hyperlinks.  For example, students could use these skills in a webquest project for another class.
